Research and planning-genre post-Cinematography used in thriller/action films

For the film trailer I am in charge of Cinematography and so I decided to do some research about what kind of Cinematography is typically seen in thriller/action films.

I found that they use lots of handheld camera work as well as long shots which are usually filmed using a tripod.

Through watching many thriller films such as Taken I have noticed that there is no use of panning shots and so we will not be using any panning shots for our trailer.

Also in lots of thriller trailers they have high angle shots on the good guy to show his vulnerability and low angle shots on the villain to show how much power he has compared to the good guy especially at the beginning to the narrative and so we will be including high angle and low angle shots as well in our trailer.

They also use some close ups so show a characters reaction to an event that has occurred and we too will be using some close ups in our trailer.

Also in our trailer we will be using a variety of shots, some with tight framing and some that look quit free with lots of space.

Canted shots are used quite often in thriller films and were famously used in The Bourne Identity which is a high action film and we too will have some shots using a canted angle.

Point of views shots would be very useful in a thriller as they help us see the events unfolding from the point of view of the protagonist (main character/hero) and so we will also be using these in our thriller film trailer.
